Wynyard Woodland Park
You will have to pop a full day in the dairy to explore every corner of this wonderful country park. From Thorpe Wood right up to Tilery Woods, the Castle Eden Walkway provides an amazing cycling route through the heart of the park. With plenty to admire from bluebell carpets to wildflower meadows, don’t forget to bring your camera.
Coatham Wood
Based on the edge on Long Newton village, this vast woodland is a mix of conifer trees, ponds and meadows and full of wildlife so keep an eye out for owls, deer and dragonflies. There are two waymarked routes so whether you fancy a quick cycle or something a bit longer, there is something for everyone.
Tees Barrage
Go seal spotting at this peaceful riverside location. Whether you prefer going through a Marsh full of ponds and pools or down by the river to take in local landmarks, this route is on National Cycle Network Route 14. Why not bring a picnic stocked with goodies from Bluecorn Bakery for those much-needed post-cycling refreshments.
For help with any local cycling routes pop into Tees Valley Walking and Cycling Hub just based at the end of Wellington Street where Josh and the team are more then happy to help!
