Climb, Swing & Zip at Air Trail
For an action-packed day, head to Air Trail at Tees Barrage, the UK’s largest high ropes adventure course. With wobbly bridges, climbing obstacles, and thrilling zip lines, it’s an exciting challenge for kids (and adults) who love adventure.  If you have younger children, don’t worry—there’s Air Tykes, a smaller, safer version designed just for little adventurers.

Get Your Skates On at Billingham Forum
For some indoor fun, take the kids ice skating at Billingham Forum – it’s a fantastic way to get active and enjoy some family-friendly fun. There are special skating aids available for younger children who need a little help on the ice, and they even offer disco skating sessions for those who want to glide around to the latest hits. 

Explore Preston Park & Museum
A visit to Preston Park and Museum is always a hit with families. The park is home to a massive adventure playground, complete with climbing frames, slides, and plenty of space to run around. Inside the museum, kids can step back in time and explore a Victorian street, where they can pop into old-fashioned shops, try out traditional games, and learn about life in the past.

Relax at Ropner Park
For a more chilled-out day, Ropner Park is a fantastic spot to let the kids play while you enjoy the peaceful surroundings. This stunning Victorian park has beautifully maintained gardens, a large play area, and a picturesque lake where you can feed the ducks. Bring a football, a frisbee, or even a picnic and enjoy some quality time outdoors.

Walk on the Wild Side at Portrack Marsh
If your kids love exploring nature, take them on an adventure to Portrack Marsh Nature Reserve. These hidden gems provide a great opportunity for children to learn about local wildlife while getting some fresh air. With walking trails, wildflower meadows, and plenty of birds and insects to spot, these reserves are perfect for a peaceful family stroll or even a mini scavenger hunt.
