WE ARE delighted that Wellington Square has been recognised as a Dementia Friendly shopping centre.
Our Management, Security and Housekeeping teams all undertook a training workshop earlier in the year to understand the needs of those living with dementia and their carers.
As a team we also committed to improving accessibility at Wellington Square and providing supportive customer service.
After undergoing the dementia training, we offered workshops to all our tenants at Wellington Square with twelve of our businesses taking part.
We are pleased to say that the following Wellington Square businesses are now all dementia friendly: Additional Lengths, Barclays, Bluecorn Bakery, Caffe Nero, Citizens Advice, Elizabeths, F.Hinds, Hays Travel, River Island, Sallys, Specsavers Audiology, Stockton Training and Employment Hub, Stockton Shop Mobility, Suit Direct, Vision Express and Warren James,
To celebrate our new dementia-friendly status, we attended a ceremony at Princess Alexandra Auditorium, where we received our accreditation from Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council from the Mayor, Councillor Ross Patterson.
The Dementia Friendly Community Project aims to encourage and support businesses and organisations to become more dementia friendly so they can create more opportunities and choices that are inclusive of and accessible to people with dementia and their carers.
